Advent calendar inspires youngsters

December 15, 2023
Over the last couple of weeks Sutherland House School classes have been enjoying unveiling their Advent Calendar.
But this has been no ordinary Advent Calendar! Each door of the calendar has included film clips of a festive story read by a teacher.
Each teacher has chosen their favourite story to read with day one read by Headteacher, Ann Stewart, with her retelling of The First Christmas. Other stories have included Perfect Christmas Tree, Snowman's Party, Little Reindeer Wants To Play and The Night Before Christmas.
The calendar was devised by the English teaching team with the aim of inspiring youngsters. Listening to stories is a good way to engage students and encourage them to read.
* It will be the turn of students to perform next week as they will be taking part in their Christmas Performance on Wednesday 20th December. Watch this space for the full story next week.
